Painting with a Twist in Katy, Tx is scheduled to welcome guests on Sunday, February 19 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at a special Painting with a Purpose paint class to raise funds for breast cancer research.

The studio is scheduled to offer refreshments and a give-away during the paint pARTy.

The fundraiser is scheduled to benefit Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.

To date, it has contributed $15 million to the research team in the Indiana University Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis.

Segment D of the Grand Parkway, which extends from U.S. 59 to I-10, has significantly contributed to the growth of Cinco Ranch in Katy, Tx over the past several years.

The Grand Parkway serves as a significant thoroughfare for Cinco Ranch residents heading to the Energy Corridor during the work week.

BP North America and Conoco Phillips, both headquartered along the Corridor, are the No. 2 and 3 employers for the area, following behind Katy ISD, according to the Katy Area Economic Development Council.

Ann Hodge, president of the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, stated “Employers find our educated population extremely attractive. The ability to attract a highly educated workforce is an extremely important factor in the decision of where to locate a business."

It is projected for 2015 that more than 25 percent of adult residents within the Katy ISD boundaries will have a Bachelor’s degree, according to a report from Sites on Texas, a project of the Texas Workforce Commission.

Over a tenth of adult residents are forecasted to hold a Master’s degree in 2015.

Hodge stated that the business growth patterns along Grand Parkway in Katy have followed a similar pattern to that seen in the past along the 610 Loop and the Sam Houston Tollway.

She added that the area’s demographics have changed as new businesses have opened and attracted employees.

The Train Collectors Association’s Gulf Coast Chapter is scheduled to host the 20th Annual Toy Train Meet from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14 at the Katy VFW Hall in Katy, Tx.
